The names under the pictures only show up on some of the pages; really only on the detail pages.
The SeamedUP team values intellectual property and we do our best to respect copyrights on all of our information, including images. However, we can't speak for every member of our community. Therefore the name under the picture tells us, as well as other members, who uploaded the picture. If someone claims that copyright has been violated, we will know who to discuss the issue with. In addition, SeamedUP has chosen to use the word "from" instead of the traditional © symbol. This denotes that we are not assigning copyright to any image; we are just stating who uploaded the image.
This name is actually populated by the author of the piece of content it is attached to, such as a pattern, fabric, project, stash, etc ... It is not a manually entered field. When SeamedUP does a catalog update we assign the auther of the content. For fabric it is the manufacturer; for patterns it is the designer; and for publications it is the publisher. But many times the person authoring a piece of content may just be a regular SeamedUP member. For example, I am filling my sewing room stash and add a fabric that is not in the catalog yet - when I add this content I become the author and my user name will be listed under the image. This piece of content will go into the moderation queue; when the moderators review it, they will correct the author of the content and on the next cache clear the 'from' name will be updated. Moderators will only change authors for catalog content, not for stash, projects, or library items.
If you are a pattern designer, fabric manufacturer, or publisher get in touch with us. We will make sure your correct user name is listed under your images and give you access to edit all the content that you 'own'.
If you find a copyright violation on the site, the first step would be to contact the SeamedUP team about it. The easiest way is to click "Is there something wrong with this page" and filling out the form. This sends us an email with a link directly to the piece of content you had concerns about.
Anything other than Internet Explorer.
Not that the site won't work in IE; it is just better viewed in Firefox, Safari or Chrome.
Creating this site has really given us some insight into web development. We have had to learn a lot. One of the first things we realized was that everything we did looked great in everything - then we would open it up in Internet Explorer - UGH!!
The site is a work in progress. Eventually it will look just as beautiful on every platform. Thank you for your patience. In the meantime, consider using Chrome or Firefox.
SeamedUP is currently in BETA mode. This means that we are still tweaking the code and changing things daily. When you visit a website page your local browser, such as Firefox, Safari, Chrome, or Internet Explorer, automatically caches - or saves - some of the information about the page. It does this so that the page will load quicker the next time you visit. However, we may have made some changes. This sometimes causes a conflict and makes weird things to happen.
To fix the situation, you need to clear your cache on your computer. (automatice cache clearing apps don't always work). I can't list all systems, but here it is for Windows based running Firefox or Internet Explorer:
- Click on the start menu and go to the control panel.
- Click on Network and Internet
- Click Internet Options
- Under the "general" tab go to "browsing history" and click "delete"
- Check only "temporary internet files", then click delete.
For Firefox on Windows:
- Complete the steps above
- Open Firefox
- Click the Firefox menu and hover over history
- Click "clear recent history"; a new box opens
- In the drop down at the top select "everything"
- Under "details" check only "cache"
- Click "clear"
We chose to send you your user name and password in a welcome email so that you can easily save the information for future use. This does not mean that your password is not protected in our system.
The email is rendered prior to encrypting your password in the website's database. After this email is sent, your password is encrypted and is not recoverable by anyone on the SeamedUP staff. You will notice that when you access your profile edit page, your password information is blank. If you forget your password and request a new one, you are sent a one time link that is time sensitive.
Based on the information currently on the site, our password security is sufficient.
You must validate your email address to gain full access to all the features of the site. Until this is done you cannot accept or make friend requests or mark anything up for trad or as a favorite.
A validation link is sent with the welcome email to the site. It would come to you from mail@seamedup.com. You can re-send the validation email by going to your profile, clicking "edit" and clicking the link that says "re-send validation e-mail"
If you don't get the email, verify the email address on your account is correct; or check your junk/spam filter to make sure the message is not getting blocked.
The site is currently not programmed for use on mobile devices. However, you can still access the site on your device, such as a phone, iPod, or iPad. But the site will not function 100% on these devices right now.
We do hope to change this as we are moving forward.
Click "request a new password" on the login screen. You will receive an email from mail@seamedup.com that contains a one time link. This link does expire and you can only click on it once.
Click on the link or copy and paste it into your browser. You will be taken directly to your profile edit page where you must put in and save a new password.

Not yet. We are still growing but one of our immediate plans is to add a classified section. In the future we plan on expanding it to online sales of handmade items, patterns, and more.
Yes. Currently, any pattern can be added to the catalog by going through your personal pattern library page. Once added into the system the pattern can be viewed by all users. If you have several you want to add, you can contact our catalog department at database@seamedup.com; we will work with you to mass upload your information to the catalog. In the future we will incorporate the ability to download a pdf pattern from the site; either for free or at a fee.
No. SeamedUP is an independent company without any affiliations with the fabric, pattern, or notion companies.
The site is new and we need to grow it slowly. This precaution allows us to identify, mitigate, and repair any issues that arise as the site is used. The invite only will ensure a more pleasant experience for our users.
All technical issues should be directed to the TechGoddess at techgoddess@seamedup.com. If you find an error in our information, email the general mailbox at mail@seamedup.com. In addition, on some pages there is a link to report "Something Wrong on this Page"; this will open a contact window with the specific page ID pre-filled in.
SeamedUP is a LLC incorporated in Delaware.

As quilters, we wanted a resource like SeamedUP but it didn't exist. We waited and waited and waited. Since no one else was going to do it for us, we decided to join together and do it ourselves.
2 creative people with several things in common; quilters, professional backgrounds, podcasters, and moms.
